DA creates Technical Working Group for determining level of farm mechanization
In an effort to come up with a harmonized measure of level of farm mechanization in the country, the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) is teaming up with Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) and the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

Northern Mindanao Region bags ABEMIS 2022 Terabyte Award
The search for the most outstanding ABEMIS implementing unit was one of the highlights during the Agricultural and Biosystems Management Information System (ABEMIS) FY 2022 Data Assessment. The award aims to recognize the performance of each DA RFO RAEDs. The Northern Mindanao Region topped the competition with a score of 99.41% and received the ABEMIS 2022 Terabyte Award.

DA-BAFE conducts Regulatory Services Performance Review
The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) conducted the three-day BAFE Regulatory Services Performance Review cum Retooling of Regulators Workshop at the West Avenue Suites, West Avenue, Quezon City from November 22 to 24, 2022. Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers from the Regional Agricultural Engineering Divisions (RAEDs) in DA-Regional Field Offices (RFOs) nationwide participated in the said activity.
Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers convened at BARMM
The Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (PSABE) held the 1st PSABE-BARMM Convention at the Alnor Convention Center, Cotabato City from November 8 to 10, 2022 with the theme “Uplifting Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Profession in the Bangsamoro Region.” DA-BAFE Director Ariodear Rico, who is also the Chair of the Professional Regulatory Board for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (PRBABE) , delivered the opening/welcome remarks during the preliminaries on November 8, 2022.
Harnessing digitalization for smart agriculture
As a leading innovation currently gaining worldwide acceptance, smart agriculture is used to enhance production, address farm-related issues like food demand, and make farms more connected and intelligent. To promote widespread adoption of smart agriculture in the country, the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) visited the first established smart greenhouse project between the Republic of the Philippines and Republic of Korea from October 12 to 14, 2022.
