Strategic Consultation with Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) on the “Pang-Agraryong Tulay para sa Bagong Bayanihan ng mga Magsasaka” or Project PBBM

QUEZON CITY – To strengthen rural infrastructure and boost connectivity in agricultural communities, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE) recently convened to discuss their respective farm bridge projects and align their efforts. The meeting’s central objective was to review both agencies’ proposed projects to ensure proper coordination and avoid any potential duplication and overlap

Present at the Consultation Meeting, listed from left to right, were: Engr. Niño Bengosta (representing the Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering), Director Anacleta B. Mariano, Usec. Jesry T. Palmares (from the Department of Agrarian Reform), Director Baldwin G. Jallorina (Director of BAFE), Engr. John Louie O. Rafael, Mr. Julius Peralta, Mr. Glenn Morco, and Engr. Reimarc N. Marcaida (BAFE representatives)

The agenda included the discussion of the NEDA Board approved DAR’s “Pang-Agraryong Tulay para sa Bagong Bayanihan ng mga Magsasaka” or Project PBBM and how it will complement the proposed farm bridge project of DA. This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the agricultural infrastructure in rural areas.

During the meeting, Undersecretary Jesry T. Palmares of the DAR raised concerns regarding the overlap between DAR’s Project PBBM and those proposed by the DA. Addressing these concerns, the BAFE confirmed that adjustments had already been made to the DA’s proposed bridge projects to ensure there would be no duplication with DAR’s initiatives.

As part of the next steps, DAR’s Foreign Assisted and Special Projects Office (FASPO) will submit updated coordinates for the bridge projects. In addition, both agencies will provide coordinates for buffer projects to be cross-checked for any remaining overlap. This collaboration between the DAR and DA highlights the government’s commitment to optimizing resources and ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of critical infrastructure projects, particularly for farm communities in need of improved connectivity and transportation.###DA-BAFE ICST
