Tagbilaran City, Bohol – The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) has honored four Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Offices (DA-RFOs) for their exemplary performance in project documentation and data monitoring through the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Information System (ABEMIS).
The ABEMIS Terabyte Award for 2024 was bestowed upon DA RFO VII while DA RFO III received the Gigabyte Award. DA RFO VIII and DA RFO I were recognized with the Megabyte and Kilobyte Awards, respectively. These awards recognize the significant contributions of these RFOs in ensuring efficient and effective monitoring of agricultural and fishery projects.
The ABEMIS Achievers award is a nationwide search for the most outstanding ABEMIS implementing units. The awardees were selected based on rigorous criteria: completeness and accuracy of data (60%), completeness of inventory (20%), and completeness of targets encoded (20%). This meticulous evaluation process highlights the importance of accurate and comprehensive data management in the successful implementation of DA projects.
DA-BAFE Assistant Director Juana T. Tapel lauded the awardees for their dedication and encouraged other regions to continuously leverage ABEMIS in the planning and execution of their projects. “We congratulate our ABEMIS awardees for their exceptional work. Their commitment to data accuracy and project monitoring sets a benchmark for other regions to follow,” Asst. Dir. Tapel said.
ABEMIS is an in-house, web-based system developed by BAFE to facilitate the tracking of DA projects across five stages: proposal, procurement, delivery/implementation, completion, and turnover/inventory. The system is integral to the Department’s efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in its projects. DA RFOs encode and update information on agricultural and fishery machinery and infrastructure projects through the Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED).
Asst. Dir. Tapel emphasized the important role of ABEMIS in project management, stating, “ABEMIS is a powerful tool that helps us maintain a high standard of transparency and efficiency in our project monitoring. It ensures that all stages of project implementation are documented and accessible, enabling us to address any issues promptly.”
The awarding ceremony was a highlight of the BAFE PPMD Midyear Machinery and Infrastructure Projects Implementation Review. The event brought together representatives from various regional offices, providing a platform for sharing best practices and discussing challenges faced in project implementation.
The success of the ABEMIS Achievers awards reflects BAFE’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the DA. By recognizing and rewarding the efforts of outstanding RFOs, BAFE aims to inspire all regions to strive for higher standards in project management and data accuracy.
Engr. Tapel concluded her remarks with a call to action for all DA RFOs. “We urge all regions to continue utilizing ABEMIS to its full potential. Let us work together to ensure that our agricultural and fisheries projects are implemented with the highest levels of efficiency and transparency,” she said. The recognition of ABEMIS Achievers not only celebrates past accomplishments but also sets a clear path for future success. The DA RFOs honored with the ABEMIS Achievers awards have set a high standard for project documentation and data monitoring. Their achievements highlight the importance of accurate data management in the effective implementation of agricultural and fisheries projects. ###DA-BAFE/ICTST
